Google chromecast 1 with beam projector

 

Google has released some devices that can upgrade normal TV to smart TV.

I got Google chromecast 1 (below chromecast) in 2013. I have been using it for about 7 years.

 

It used to be so powerful and awesome when there is no smart TV.

Today we can easily access to Youtube on TV without any attached device.

 

However in the past, only way to watch Youtube on big screen is to connect TV and laptop. (or similar)

That's why I could say 'amazing'

 

 

My TV in living room is smart one, so actually I didn't need it anymore.

And I put it in my LG beam projector (PH300) which doesn't support smart function.

 

It is light and tiny. However it has to be powered by wire.
(Don't worry, there is no one that is wireless power.)

Good thing is that power is very low, so it can be powered by TV USB terminal. (maybe 5V, 0.5A ?)

 

 

 

As a first version of casting device, it doesn't have OS. It can cast and copy my mobile screen only.

Now we all get used to have OS in TV such as Tizen or WebOS.

 

Perhaps it could make you feel inconvenient.

But if you have only purpose to enlarge your mobile screen, it is still reasonable.

(the lastest version of Google chromecast has OS, and even remote controller!)

If you have screen device from Nest like Nest hub, you might know how to change uwallpaper.

Go to Google home app, and change options. 

In my case, I'm using Google photo.

Youtube

 

Of course we can watch Netflix and Youtube via Google chromecast. 

My favorite is voice commands. 

When I ask google home speaker to show me Youtube, it shows me via chromecast.

 

One more thing, if you have NAS in the same network, you can watch your video with ds video or ds file.

Unfortunately it doesn't support all video format, so sometimes you need to convert video format.
