Galaxy home mini speaker (Samsung AI speaker)

I'm interested in building up smarthome.

There are several platforms for smarthome, but i chose smartthings (below st)

 

Unfortunately there is no native speaker for st.

That's why some people are looking for alternatives such as xx connector.

 

I have been using google home speaker with gh connector.

However it sometimes doens't work (I don't know why)

 

Now I can solve this problems with Galaxy home mini.

It's native one, so i don't need to have any connector.

 

 

I don't want to talk about quality of sound it makes,

because probably no body expects good quality from tiny speaker.

 

Instead of having good sound quality, we can get convenience.

Let me say example,

when I ask 'fine dust' to Google home, it can't answer right away. It tries to access 'fine dust app'

when I ask the same one to Galaxy home mini, it answers me in detail with 'fine dust index'

 

If you have smartthings platform, it's the best choice.

 

 

Next benefit is it contains IR remote controller inside.

That means we can control TV, AC, fan, etc with our voices.

 

I know we can do same thing with other devices like Logitech Harmony.

(I have lots of comments on Harmony, I will make another post for this someday.)

Anyway better thing than Harmony is it's combination of speak and remote controller.

It also has disadvantages.

first of all, poor sound quality as above.

 

Second terrible voice recognition.

Its voice trigger is 'Hi Bixby' but it's oftenly activated with other words.

 

I put AI speakers beside TV in my house. When I watch TV, it keeps ringing to get my voice command.

It detects somes words that comes from TV, and say something which is really noisy and annoying.

 

Third, very limited remote controller.

it supports major brand's products and doesn't support 'learning IR'

That's why if you have TV manufactured by not major one, you can't use IR function with speaker.

 

Last, it's not USB C type, but micro 5pin.

Actually it's not a big deal, but disappointed.
