Philips hue smart bulb review

 Why did I buy?

 I started smart home life with smart bulb. 

Reason is very simple, it is easy.

I think most of beginers start with smart bulb for the same as I do.

 

Many people recommend Philips hue light, but I didn't understand why.

Although functions are almost same, price of philips is much higher.

 

Even some other products are working in wifi or bluetooth,

but philips needs hub, called bridge.

(Recent version works in bluetooth)

 

Eventually I realized philips hue was recommendable, due to quick response and compatibility.

I didn't know how it was important, but after I got Yeelight from Xiaomi, I found it out.

 

Philips hue is much faster than Yeelight.

Maybe that is because of wifi and zigbee difference.

I don't know why exactly, but I can say it is huge difference.

 

As well as that, philips hue has good compatibility.

I can connect it to other platforms like IFTTT or smartthings.

Which means I can utilize the light more and more.

 

Lastly, color quality is better than Yeelight.

When I see philips hue light, I can check each color clearly, but not with Yeelight.

I sold Yeelight in the end..

 How to use

If you don't have smart home platform, you can use philips hue app.

It has also quite useful functions, so you could be satisfied.

 

For example,

• Turning on light, when I get home
• Turning on light, when I wake up

These are almost same as smart power plug.

On the top of that, you can add entertainment function.

For example

• Changing color, following music you are listening to
• Copying color that is displayed in another screen like a TV

If you have smart home platform, you can upgrade its abilities.

For example

• Changing color to blue, when rainy (connection with weather station)
• Flash when I get notification (connection with IFTTT)
• Changing color, when someone opens a door. (connection with contact sensor)

Which means you can connect the light to other services or sensors as you need.

• Quick response
• Good color quality
• Good compatibility

 

CONS

• Expensive
• We should need bridge hub (expensive)
  
• Brightness is not enough, 800lm

 Should buy?

If you want to get philip hue bulb as a main light at home, it is not recommendable.

Because its brightness is not enough, so you have to install many bulbs.

 

However if you want to make different environment, changing color with smart bulb,

it is the best way.

 

In my case, I have a main light which is non-smart and smart bulbs as sub light.

When I want to lighten room for concentration on something, I use a main light due to brightness.

Otherwise I switch on smart bulbs for moods, following on situations.

 

Anyway I want to get sync box...
